MOLTO LUCE LAUNCHES REPLACEABLE LED
The market has been calling for products with replaceable LEDs for a long time. After intensive development work, we are once again proving our innovation leadership with the new X-Change technology.
The easy-to-change chip-on-board LED module (COB module) provides a series-ready solution for greater flexibility, energy efficiency and sustainability.

Years ago, the transition to innovative LED technology was revolutionary. Nowadays, LED has become the leading lighting technology across all application areas. Compelling arguments for this breakthrough were and still are the trendy, particularly discreet lighting design, but above all, the high efficiency and the resulting energy-saving potential.
However, the disadvantage remains that the LED board is usually fixedly installed in the luminaire. This means that, unlike the old technologies, it is not just the light source that needs to be replaced, but rather the entire luminaire, once the LED has exceeded its lifespan. This not only causes unnecessary environmental strain, but also results in a significant loss of flexibility and cost efficiency in professional project applications. The development of a replaceable COB module can provide a remedy here.
Inspired by customer requests
Based on a specific customer requirement from a well-known fashion label, our product developers quickly took up the innovative topic of replaceable LEDs. After around a year of development, the solution is now on the table.
First series product with COB module
The Molto Luce X-Change Technology, which enables easy changing of a COB-based LED, is being used for the first time as a ready-to-produce product in the MOVA track spotlight.
Cooming soon
Molto Luce will soon also offer a linear solution for replaceable LEDs with the defined lengths L60, L120, L150 according to ZHAGA Book 14, which will be equipped with push-in & push-out system as well as acoustic and tactile feedback during tool-free lamp installation (Click-Fit).
Simply (un)interchangeable
1, 2, 3...the MOVA spotlight is already adapted - whether it's a new COB module, optics or new reflector. No tools, no stress: new color temperature, new beam angle, new CRI value. The video below shows how easy and quick the exchange is.
Areas of application
The further development of the spotlight, which is primarily used in the retail sector, now offers a functional solution to make adjustments quickly and at the lowest possible cost. The COB can be changed completely without tools using a bayonet lock and can also be done directly on the power rail. The COB module is available with a protective glass for effective dust protection, but also without glass as a highly efficient solution.
Linear light sources also play an important role in professional lighting. T8 fluorescent lamps with G13 bases and T5 fluorescent lamps with G5 bases are currently widely used as light sources.
Simply advantageous
There are a number of advantages associated with the replaceable LED. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the replacement of defective LEDs at the end of their lifespan, but this is of secondary importance given the long cycles.
- Easier generation change
Manufacturers of COBs bring a new generation of circuit boards onto the market on average every 2-3 years. This is associated with significant increases in efficiency, as less power is consumed while at the same time more lumen output is achieved. The Molto Luce X-Change Technology makes it possible to quickly switch to new COB generations and benefit from this in terms of effectiveness and cost. - Uncomplicated adaptation to changing requirements
The Molto Luce X-Change Technology makes it possible to adapt the spotlights to changing lighting tasks without the need for tools. The COB module or reflector can be replaced in just a few simple steps. A different light color or CRI value can be implemented easily, quickly and at comparatively low cost. - Increased efficiency and cost savings
The further developed MOVA spotlight with X-Change Technology was able to increase its efficiency to an impressive 97% thanks to the larger reflector and its innovative coating. The flexibility and adaptability achieved by the new system over the life of the spotlight also means a massive savings effect, because replacing the COB is around 10% of the initial costs that would be incurred by replacing a complete spotlight. The replacement therefore pays for itself in a much shorter time. - Sustainability and conservation of resources
Less material waste and garbage as well as lower transport costs are also ensured with a pure COB replacement. This protects our environment. In addition, the efficiency improvements achieved through lower power consumption with the same luminous flux output result in a more positive environmental balance. - Decorative lights - a long-lasting design object
Thanks to the simple COB replacement, it will certainly be possible in the future for decorative lights to have the high-quality lamp bodies in use for significantly longer than until the end of the LED's lifespan. As is known from GU10 or E27 sockets, the LED bulb is simply replaced in new lights. Low costs, environmentally friendly behavior.

Molto Luce was awarded the international "Lighting for Good Award" in the "Best of All" category for this innovation. Lighting for Good is an initiative by Temeloy Lighting and LVMH Lighting that aims to make lighting more environmentally friendly.
